Nike Method Origin Putter

Role: Industrial Designer

The 2016 Method Origin putter line was the second iteration of Nike Golf's polymetal groove technology, and incorporated an independant tuned mass damper body. By sandwiching RZN material between the face and sole components, off center hits are corrected when the rear mass activates to negate the rotating face. Using milled components allowed for the parts to fit seamlessly together and elevated the premium craftsmanship of the product.

Method Origin Putter

Designed with player insights from Tiger Woods and McIlroy, the three piece Method Origin is a classic “blade” style putter, but modernized with technology including the same RZN material used in Nike golf balls. Placed between the face and body of the clubhead, the soft RZN adds significant forgiveness on off-center hits, reducing distance loss while increasing accuracy. Another prominent feature of the new model is the polymetal groove technology that includes full-length horizontal grooves. This design, which features twice the number of grooves as the previous Method models, is aimed at creating a faster, more consistent roll at impact with less skidding and a softer feel.
